Selina Kuruleca, the Permanent Secretary for Education, highlighted the benefits of the IQ Active competition in enhancing academic engagement and developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities among students. During the launch of the nation’s largest national secondary school general knowledge quiz competition this morning, she emphasized the importance of such competitions in fostering educational engagement.
Fifty secondary schools, including five maritime institutions, are set to compete in the 2024 IQ Active competition, involving over 200 students from various divisions. Kuruleca praised Fiji TV for revitalizing the competition and encouraged participants to work together and communicate effectively.
“This competition should foster and promote critical thinking. Instead of approaching problems from a single perspective, participants must be motivated to think critically and creatively, improving their problem-solving skills and intellectual abilities. Study as you usually do, then approach the best solutions with a creative and critical mindset,” Kuruleca stated.
Fiji Television’s Acting CEO, Felix Chaudhary, affirmed the company’s dedication to supporting Fiji’s education sector. “Fiji TV is committed to enhancing literacy and numeracy, and we are eager to continue this initiative in the future,” he remarked.
The 2024 IQ Active competition is set to premiere on Fiji One on October 7th.
