Selina Kuruleca, the Permanent Secretary for Education, emphasized that the IQ Active competition promotes academic engagement while developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in students.
During the launch of Fiji’s largest national secondary school general knowledge quiz competition, Kuruleca highlighted the significance of the IQ Active competition. A total of fifty secondary schools, including five maritime schools, are participating in the 2024 edition, with over 200 students involved from various divisions.
Kuruleca praised Fiji TV for rejuvenating the competition and encouraged teamwork and effective communication among participants. She stated, “This competition should encourage and nurture critical thinking. Instead of only considering a problem from one angle, learners need to challenge themselves to think critically and creatively, thereby improving their problem-solving skills and intellectual abilities. Continue studying as you normally would, but also focus on finding the most innovative and critical solutions.”
Felix Chaudhary, Acting CEO of Fiji Television, affirmed the company’s dedication to enhancing Fiji’s education sector. “Fiji TV is committed to fostering literacy and numeracy, and this is a commitment we aim to uphold in the future,” he remarked.
The 2024 IQ Active competition is set to premiere on October 7th on Fiji One.
