The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has forwarded the investigation file regarding FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to finalize the inquiry.
The ODPP explained that this decision followed discussions between Deputy DPP John Rabuku, who was assigned to review the case, and Acting DPP Nancy Tikoisuva.
Last week, the ODPP acquired the investigation file from the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) related to Malimali.
According to the ODPP, it was determined that the investigation was not yet complete, prompting the transfer of the file to CID with recommendations for its completion.
After the CID concludes the investigation, the file will be sent back to the ODPP for a thorough evaluation of all gathered evidence.
The ODPP indicated that an update regarding the results of the file review will be provided once the completed investigation is received and a decision is made.
