The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has forwarded the investigation file related to FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department for further inquiries.
In a statement, the ODPP explained that this decision was made after discussions between Deputy DPP John Rabuku, who was assigned to the matter, and Acting DPP Nancy Tikoisuva.
The ODPP received the investigation file from the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption concerning Malimali last week.
The statement indicated that it was determined the investigation was incomplete, prompting the file to be sent to the CID Director with instructions to finish the investigation.
Upon completion of the investigation, the file will be returned to the ODPP for a thorough review of all the evidence.
The ODPP will provide an update on the findings once the completed file is received and a decision is made.
