Zahara Buksh expressed deep gratitude to her father, Taufeek Buksh, for his unwavering support as she celebrated her graduation with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the South Pacific. The 25-year-old thanked her father, a dedicated taxi driver, for his sacrifices over the years to provide her with the best educational opportunities.
Zahara also recognized her mother, Sunila Devi, a homemaker, for her significant contributions towards securing a better future for their family. “My passion for law comes from my father, who aspired to be a lawyer himself, coming from a family of legal professionals. I’m pursuing this for them,” she stated.
Taufeek, who is the sole provider for their family, faced many challenges, including the early death of his own father and financial constraints, yet he remained committed to his children’s education.
Zahara aims to pursue a career in public prosecution, driven by her passion for criminology and a desire to effect positive change within the justice system. She was among the 1,147 graduates from USP, with 61 percent of this year’s graduates being female.
