Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Commission of Inquiry to investigate allegations made by former Acting Deputy Commissioner of FICAC, Francis Puleiwai, are currently in draft form and will soon be finalized and released. This follows claims from the former Deputy Commissioner that high-ranking government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, had interfered with investigations against them.
Rabuka indicated that the inquiry could take the shape of either a commission or an investigation. He confirmed that the TOR is in the process of being developed, and the composition of the commission tasked with the investigation is also being determined. He emphasized that there is legislation in place regarding the Commission of Inquiry, and it will be formally established.
