Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for a Commission of Inquiry into allegations made by former Acting Deputy Commissioner of FICAC, Francis Puleiwai, are in progress and will be released soon. This announcement follows claims by Puleiwai that senior members of the government, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, interfered with investigations initiated against them.
Rabuka explained that the inquiry may take the form of a commission or a formal investigation. He emphasized that the TOR are currently being developed and that the composition of the commission, which will carry out the investigation, is also being finalized. Additionally, he affirmed that there is a legal framework in place for establishing the Commission of Inquiry.
