Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the upcoming Commission of Inquiry, set to look into claims made by former FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Puleiwai, are currently in draft form and will soon be finalized and published. This announcement follows Puleiwai’s allegations that high-ranking government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, have interfered with ongoing investigations.
Rabuka indicated that the inquiry may take the shape of a commission or a straightforward investigation. He confirmed that work is underway in drafting the Terms of Reference and determining the composition of the commission that will conduct the investigation. Additionally, he noted that there is legislation in place concerning the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry, which will proceed accordingly.
