Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for a Commission of Inquiry into the allegations raised by former FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Puleiwai are currently in draft form and will be officially released soon. This announcement follows Puleiwai’s accusations that senior government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, interfered with ongoing investigations.

Rabuka indicated that the inquiry could take the shape of either a formal commission or a thorough investigation. He confirmed that the TOR is being developed and that the members of the commission tasked with conducting the investigation are being selected. The Prime Minister emphasized that there is legislation in place governing the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry.
