Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for a Commission of Inquiry, aimed at examining allegations raised by former FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Puleiwai, are currently in draft form and will be finalized and published soon.
This development follows Puleiwai’s allegations that senior government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, interfered with ongoing investigations.
Rabuka indicated that the inquiry may take the shape of either a commission or a formal investigation. He noted that the Terms of Reference are being developed, and the composition of the commission that will conduct the investigation is in the process of being established.
He emphasized that there is legislation governing the Commission of Inquiry, which will be put into place.
