Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Commission of Inquiry, which will investigate allegations made by former FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Puleiwai, are currently in draft form and will soon be finalized and released. This statement follows Puleiwai’s claims that high-ranking government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, interfered with investigations involving them.
Rabuka indicated that the inquiry could take the form of either a commission or a straightforward investigation. He confirmed that the Terms of Reference are being developed and that the composition of the commission responsible for the investigation is also in the process of being established. The Prime Minister referenced existing legislation concerning the Commission of Inquiry, affirming that it will be set up.
