Many of us are often caught up in minor daily tasks, but we may not fully recognize the significant opportunities available to us. Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old woman from Namuaimada, Ra, exemplifies how entrepreneurial spirit can transform lives. She operates a handcraft business in Bulileka, Labasa, which she began just last year, and has already found substantial support for herself and her family.

Fulori was educated at a secondary school in Nasinu, where she was exposed to a program focused on entrepreneurship. However, she never dreamed that she would start her own business. Now, she is actively pursuing her education further to enhance her skills and knowledge that will help in her business ventures.

“I have always dreamed of starting a business, and now that dream is becoming a reality,” she shares. She creates unique products using natural materials and also sources some of her supplies locally, which has helped her establish a business in handicrafts.

The demand for her products is growing, with orders coming in from various locations including Koro Sun, Namela, Tanoa, and sometimes even from Nausori, especially when they are showcased at local events. “Since we entered this festive month, there has been a notable increase in orders,” she notes.

Her products are priced reasonably, starting at $5, and she has goals to expand her business, planning to maximize her crafts through processes such as weaving and other handcrafted items. On average, she aims to produce around 20 items per day, and during busy periods like festivals, she can earn as much as $400 a week.

By capitalizing on the small profits she makes, Fulori feels that this business is greatly assisting her family, allowing them to thrive and enhance their living standards.

Fulori encourages her peers to utilize their talents effectively, emphasizing the importance of faith and perseverance in striving for better livelihoods. Her story serves as an inspiration, showcasing that with hard work and determination, anyone can cultivate success and uplift their families from modest beginnings.

In summary, Fulori Waqasaqa’s journey illustrates the power of entrepreneurship in making meaningful changes in one’s life. Her commitment and passion to develop her business are not only benefiting her family but also serving as an encouragement to others in her community to pursue their dreams.

As more individuals like Fulori embark on their entrepreneurial journeys, the potential for economic growth and community empowerment only continues to blossom, providing hope for a brighter future for many.
