Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan has bid farewell to Fiji after completing over three years as the Indian High Commissioner. He officially took up the role on July 8, 2021, and during his tenure, he significantly contributed to the strengthening of India-Fiji relations. The High Commission of India in Suva recognized his dedication and commitment in a social media post, expressing gratitude with a traditional Fijian phrase, “Vinaka Vakalevu,” which translates to “thank you very much.” They also wished him success in his future endeavors.

Following Mr. Karthigeyan’s departure, Suneet Mehta has been appointed as the new High Commissioner and will be assuming his duties shortly.

This transition in leadership presents an opportunity for continued growth in the relationship between India and Fiji, as new perspectives and initiatives can emerge from Mr. Mehta’s appointment. The dedication shown by Mr. Karthigeyan sets a strong foundation for future collaborations between the two nations.
