Importance of Political Neutrality Emphasized by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stressed the significance of political neutrality among civil servants, emphasizing that their personal affiliations should not interfere with their professional responsibilities.

“There has been no specific effort to weed out anyone,” Rabuka said. “We understand the freedoms and rights of all civil servants to have an affiliation, whether they are actual financial members of political parties or not. They may support the ideologies of political parties.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role civil servants play in governance and service delivery, particularly recognizing their sacrifices, especially those working in remote areas. He assured that civil servants could maintain their political leanings as long as it does not affect their duties.

“There is nothing to limit them from continuing their service as civil servants if they have those political leanings, as long as it does not interfere with the execution of their duties,” Rabuka stated.
