A Chinese national who performed an illegal and fatal breast augmentation surgery has been sentenced to an additional two-and-a-half years in prison. Jie Shao was found guilty of manslaughter earlier this year by a Sydney jury, which determined she unlawfully administered a lethal dose of anaesthetic to a woman.
Jean Huang, 35, lost her life in September 2017 during a procedure that involved injecting hyaluronic acid into her breasts as a filler. Shao was unqualified to perform such medical procedures.
This incident has underscored the dangers of unlicensed and illegal cosmetic surgeries, and Shao’s conviction highlights the serious repercussions of such actions.
