HOTEC 2024: Where Hospitality Innovators Unite for a Transformative Experience

Spread the love

Reflecting on the evolution of the Hospitality, Tourism, and Equipment Conference (HOTEC), there is a palpable excitement about the journey we’ve undertaken. Since the inception of this tradeshow, our aim was straightforward yet ambitious: to create a venue for tourism industry suppliers to directly connect with hotel properties and hospitality professionals in one location.

Considering the challenges of staying current with trends, enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and introducing globally recognized products to a small island in the South Pacific, the growth of HOTEC is impressive. As we approach 2024, it is evident that HOTEC has transformed into a significant event, with our location becoming a sought-after destination on global travelers’ lists.

HOTEC is not merely an event; it serves as a celebration of the hospitality and tourism sectors, providing an opportunity to collaboratively share ideas that can shape the future of tourism in Fiji and the wider South Pacific. The exhibitor base has grown, showcasing a diverse array of products and services while offering a comprehensive program filled with informative sessions and engaging competitions that emphasize local talent and address training and upskilling needs.

Whether you’re a hotelier, hospitality professional, supplier, or a tourism enthusiast, joining us at HOTEC 2024 will provide insight into the direction of this fiercely competitive industry.

Kicking off on Day Zero, October 23, we will begin the festivities with the HOTEC Welcome Networking Cocktail, graciously hosted by the ACT and NSW governments alongside Pacific Trade Invest Australia. This gathering is not only about enjoying Australia’s finest food and beverages but also about forging relationships with new suppliers and fellow industry enthusiasts.

On Day One, October 24, the event will formally launch with our Chief Guest, the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka. The day will feature the HOTEC Barista Competition Finals, a highlight event showcasing the exceptional talent of local baristas. Attendees are encouraged to support these competitors who demonstrate incredible skill and passion for their craft.

Subsequent to the barista competition, we will host Information Session 1: Thriving and Inclusive Communities, focusing on the significance of compliant working conditions and local employment opportunities as pillars of sustainable tourism. This session will feature success stories from industry leaders and cover essential aspects of local employment contracts.

In the afternoon, Session 2: Prosperous Visitor Economy, sponsored by PTI Australia, will discuss taxation responsibilities and leveraging digital tools to enhance market presence. Attendees will see examples illustrating the positive impacts of local sourcing on business success.

The day’s networking culminates with the HOTEC Networking Cocktail sponsored by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, providing another excellent opportunity for attendees to mingle and establish valuable connections.

On Day Two, Friday, October 25, we will witness the finals of the HOTEC Chef and Cocktail competition, where the industry’s most skilled chefs and mixologists will compete, showcasing their creativity and expertise. Following this, Information Session 3: Healthy Islands and Oceans, will focus on resource management and maintaining a pristine environment, crucial for sustainable tourism.

The event will conclude with Information Session 4: Visible and Valued Cultures, addressing the sensitive subject of cultural site visits. We will share best practices for managing these experiences respectfully, enhancing the understanding of land, water, and property rights.

The closing ceremony of HOTEC 2024 will be marked by the HOTEC Gala Awards Night, hosted by Austrade and Trade Investment Queensland, celebrating industry excellence and reflecting on our collective accomplishments.

These highlights represent only a glimpse of what HOTEC has to offer. Attending this event provides invaluable networking opportunities with industry leaders, exhibitors, and government representatives. Our arrangements ensure ease of transportation for attendees traveling from Nadi and beyond, with shuttle services available for those staying outside the venue.

Gather your teams, engage in meaningful discussions, learn from industry experts, and depart with practical strategies to propel your operations forward. We are committed to the advancement of this industry.
