Christmas came early for cancer patients in the Western Division as the Challenge Group of Companies generously donated a vehicle to the Fiji Cancer Society’s Nadi outlet earlier this week. This new vehicle is intended to enhance the care and support provided to those battling cancer.
Salesh Kumar, the group’s chief executive officer, emphasized their dedication to community support as a core strategic priority. He expressed pride in their partnership with organizations focused on improving the well-being of vulnerable groups, especially those affected by cancer.
“At Challenge Group, we strive to do more than conduct business. We aim to inspire hope, support resilience, and cultivate meaningful partnerships,” Mr. Kumar noted. He praised the Fiji Cancer Society for its commitment to research, education, and patient care, which he believes is key to a future where cancer’s impact is lessened.
The founders of the Challenge Group, including Suresh Patel and the late Vidya Ben Patel, along with directors Pretisha Patel and Kapil Jekishan, shared this vision.
Mr. Kumar remarked, “We hope this vehicle will empower the society to deliver essential services, increasing their capacity to care for communities. We stand alongside survivors, their families, and the medical professionals who exhibit unwavering commitment daily.”
Belinda Chan, CEO of the Fiji Cancer Society, highlighted that they have supported over 332 patients from Sigatoka to Tavua, which is made possible through their various patient-support initiatives. The society’s team actively conducts cancer awareness programs, emphasizing prevention and early detection strategies.
“The vehicle will enable us to access communities more effectively, particularly the underserved populations in the Western Division. We are truly grateful to the Challenge Group for this donation, which will significantly impact our outreach efforts,” she stated.
This collaborative effort showcases the power of community support in the fight against cancer, bringing hope and resources to those in dire need. It is a reminder of the importance of partnerships and compassion in creating positive change in society.
This initiative highlights the transformative impact of corporate philanthropy and community engagement on vulnerable populations, and it serves as an inspiring example of how organizations can make a real difference.
