The donation of a fiber boat and engine to Navesi Primary School in Udu Village, Totoya, Lau, is a significant event for students, parents, and teachers alike. This gesture was made possible by Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro during his recent visit to Yasayasa Moala schools, accompanied by representatives from various ministries.

Mr. Radrodro’s visit marks the first time in over 50 years that a Minister for Education has traveled to Totoya. Head teacher Seru Luvu expressed his deep emotions regarding the arrival of the boat, stating, “It is long overdue. We have been asking for it for a long time, and to finally receive it is just emotional. Now we don’t have to request others for a boat when we need to take any of the students to the health center.”

He recalled previous instances where seeking a boat resulted in harsh responses or comments suggesting their needs could be met if the boat were free. Luvu emphasized the importance of this day, noting it would be remembered as a moment free from future embarrassment. He promised to maintain the boat in excellent condition so it would serve the school well, adding that they have also received life jackets for the students.

Minister Radrodro reminded Luvu to ensure the boat’s upkeep and stressed that it should only be operated by a licensed driver, affirming that it would be used for its intended purpose.
