Honoring Heroes: Fiji Police Officers Recognized for Their Service

At the Northern Division Medal ceremony held in Labasa, officers were honored with the Fiji Police Medal, Fiji Police Long Service Medal, and Fiji Police Overseas Medal. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew delivered a speech highlighting the significance of making a difference in others’ lives through dedicated service without expecting anything in return.

The Acting Commissioner commended the officers for their unwavering commitment and loyalty despite facing challenging conditions, recalling his own beginnings in the Northern Division. He emphasized the importance of perseverance, noting the difficulties of providing services in rural and isolated areas, and acknowledged the evolving criminal landscape.

He urged the officers to maximize available resources while advocating for additional staffing and funding, expressing confidence in their dedication to serving Fiji with integrity and compassion.

During the ceremony, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh announced that $3.1 billion in revenue reflects the officers’ significant contributions to national security efforts. He underscored the link between national and economic security and expressed gratitude for their roles in driving prosperity, particularly as Labasa attracts new investment projects.

The event concluded with the presentation of the Fiji Police Medal to eleven officers, the Fiji Police Long Service Medal to forty-four, and the Fiji Police Overseas Medal to nine.
