Lasaro Driubalavu, the head boy of Saint Thomas High School, has demonstrated remarkable academic achievements and leadership qualities. The 18-year-old received the esteemed baton of honour during the school’s recent cadet passing-out parade held on July 26.
Cadet training, which is integrated into the education system at some schools, is designed to enhance students’ development and instill discipline. This programme goes beyond academic performance, focusing on cultivating teamwork, leadership, and responsibility among students.
Originally from Nuku Village in Serua, Lasaro has family ties to Wainiyabia, Serua. Reflecting on his experiences, he shared, “Since it was my first experience, I was nervous but I had faith in God, and I overcame the challenge.”
As the eldest of four siblings, Lasaro has aspirations of becoming an electrician and plans to pursue his studies at the Fiji National University (FNU).
