As the festive season approaches, residents can expect to see a heightened police presence across Fiji. The Fiji Police Force has initiated special operations aimed at ensuring public safety during this time of celebrations and gatherings.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of these operations, stating that starting them early serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize their personal safety. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety while traveling on the road, shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea, or simply having fun with friends,” said ACP Driu.
The presence of law enforcement is intended to protect everyone, but safety ultimately begins with individual responsibility. Driu pointed out that the police are committed to upholding law and order and will collaborate with stakeholders to monitor activities, particularly on the roads.
The Fiji Police Force is striving for an incident-free festive season and is urging the community to contribute to this goal. “Police cannot do this alone; we need your support in keeping everyone safe, whether on our roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or at home with your family,” he added.
Residents can anticipate seeing police officers in various locations, including towns, cities, roads and highways, community areas, picnic spots, schools, and businesses.
In summary, the initiative by the Fiji Police Force not only aims to enhance safety during the festive season but also encourages collective responsibility among community members. This cooperative approach fosters a sense of security and strengthens community ties, reminding everyone that safety is a shared commitment. With active participation from the public and law enforcement, a joyful and safe festive period is within reach for everyone.
