The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team demonstrated remarkable resilience after a disappointing loss in the pool rounds, ultimately defending their title with impressive victories. Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to 4R Electrical, Gabby’s Investment, and Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal in the pool stages, the team regrouped and displayed their strength during the knockout rounds.
In the semi-finals, Suva triumphed over Nadi with a 4-2 scoreline and showcased exceptional skill in the finals, defeating Lautoka 6-2. Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed pride in his team’s ability to bounce back after their initial loss, emphasizing that setbacks in earlier matches can lead to significant growth and determination in crucial moments.
“Losing in the pool rounds is better than in the elimination rounds,” Nadan noted, praising the team for their determination and focus as they approached the finals with a winning mindset. Following the tournament, the team plans to take a break before the new season kicks off in January.
In the women’s division, Rewa emerged victorious after leading the points table throughout the tournament. Both the men’s and women’s champions were awarded shopping vouchers worth $1,000 from Extra Supermarket, while the runner-ups received $500 vouchers.
This story highlights the spirit of sportsmanship and the idea that perseverance often leads to success. With the new season on the horizon, both teams have a lot to look forward to as they prepare to build on their achievements and continue striving for excellence.
