Spread the love

The Health Ministry reports that HIV has resulted in 13 deaths from January to June of this year, along with 552 new cases identified in the same timeframe. This marks a significant rise compared to 82 deaths last year and 49 fatalities in 2022.

The ministry urges the public, especially young individuals, to avoid high-risk behaviors that could lead to HIV transmission, including the use of injectable drugs and sharing needles, engaging in unprotected sex with multiple partners, as well as participating in activities like chemsex.

It is emphasized that HIV is not a death sentence; with proper treatment, individuals living with HIV can lead regular, active lives. The ministry strongly encourages those at higher risk to get tested to know their HIV status and advises those who test positive to seek treatment immediately and adhere to their treatment plans diligently.
