Spread the love

From January to June of this year, HIV has resulted in 13 deaths, according to a statement from the Health Ministry which also reported 552 new cases during this timeframe. In contrast, there were 82 HIV-related deaths last year and 49 in 2022.

The ministry is urging the public, particularly young individuals, to avoid high-risk behaviors that could lead to HIV transmission. These activities include the use of injectable drugs and sharing needles, engaging in unprotected sex with multiple partners, and participating in activities like bluetoothing and chemsex.

It is essential to emphasize that HIV is not a death sentence. With proper treatment, individuals living with HIV can lead normal, active lives. The ministry strongly recommends that those engaged in high-risk activities get tested to know their HIV status. Additionally, it encourages those who test positive for HIV to seek treatment promptly and adhere to their treatment plans diligently.
