Hindi Teacher Triumphs in National Essay Competition

Arti Renuka Mani, a Hindi teacher at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), claimed the top prize in the National Hindi Essay Writing Competition 2024. This event, organized by the Fiji Hindu Society in partnership with the High Commission of India, was held in celebration of Hindi Diwas, with the goal of promoting the appreciation of the Hindi language and culture.

The competition attracted participants from across Fiji, competing in three different categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open Category (for those 18 years and older).

Ms. Mani, a dedicated supporter of the Hindi language, expressed her pride in winning, stating, “Hindi is our identity, and we should never forget our mother language as it is crucial.” Her prize included $200 in cash, Hindi cultural books, and a USB drive.

In addition, Shriya Mala, a Year 12 student from SVC, earned third place in the secondary school category, receiving a $100 reward.

These accomplishments underscore the commitment of SVC to fostering and preserving the Hindi language among its students. The school’s vice principal, Geeta Krishna, commended the winners, emphasizing that the school community is proud of their achievements and remains committed to encouraging the use and promotion of Hindi across generations.
