The trial date for former Fisheries and Forestry Minister Kalaveti Ravu has been scheduled for February next year. Ravu is facing charges alongside former Regional Manager North, Tekata Toaisi.

Ravu appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou and requested a bail variation to travel to China. Toaisi was absent from the hearing due to a scheduling error regarding the date.

The first case involves alleged corrupt practices linked to false declarations made by the FijiFirst Party, specifically related to the Fiji First Australia Association Incorporated, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and Tito Bainimarama.

The second case includes allegations against Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Mohammed Saneem for collusion and conflicts of interest, along with Arif Ali for reportedly making a $10,000 donation to the FijiFirst Party while being a civil servant.

Additionally, there are complaints against the President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and Charan Jeath Singh. Another complaint involves Voreqe Bainimarama regarding false declarations of income, assets, and liabilities from 2014 to 2019 and in 2022. The fifth case pertains to Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for failing to declare overseas travel allowances.

Concerning other matters referred by the Supervisor of Elections, these investigations are ongoing, and FICAC has stated that it will refrain from commenting until the inquiries are complete. FICAC emphasized that it continues to function as usual, rigorously scrutinizing every complaint, regardless of the person involved.
