A taxi driver is currently hospitalized following a road accident that took place on Kermode Road in Lautoka yesterday afternoon. Reports suggest that the driver of a KBL school bus lost control of the vehicle, leading to a collision with the taxi, which suffered significant damage.
At the time of the incident, the bus was carrying students from Tilak High School and the accident occurred around 3:45 PM. Avijeet Vishal, the younger brother of the taxi driver, claimed that the bus was speeding.
“My brother Kamal Prakash was en route to a pick-up when the bus approached from the junction,” he stated. “The bus driver was exceeding the speed limit and lost control, resulting in the taxi being struck.”
While the taxi driver remains hospitalized, the bus passengers reportedly escaped with minor injuries. Local police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
