High-Ranking Officials Charged in Shocking Firearm Scandal

A former senior government official and two ex-senior executives are facing charges related to the illegal transport of firearms and ammunition on a domestic flight. According to a police statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has approved the charges against the trio.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, reported that the former government official is charged with multiple offenses, including abuse of office, breach of trust by a public service employee, receiving corrupt benefits, and unlawful carriage of firearms and ammunition on an aircraft.

The two former executives are facing charges of providing corrupt benefits to a public official, failing to report mandatory security occurrences, and violating the security protocols of the aircraft company. ACP Waqa added that the company involved is also being held accountable for not adhering to its security program and failing to report security incidents as required.
