High-Level Officials Face Charges in Shocking Aviation Scandal

The Director of Public Prosecutions has approved charges against a former senior government official and two senior executives in connection with the unlawful transportation of firearms and ammunition on a domestic flight.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, announced that the former government official faces multiple charges including abuse of office, breach of trust as a public employee, receipt of corrupt benefits, and unlawful transport of firearms and ammunition onboard an aircraft.

The two executives are also charged with providing corrupt benefits to a public official, failing to report security incidents as required, and neglecting compliance with the aircraft company’s security protocols.

Additionally, the aircraft company is being held responsible for violations related to its security program and the mandatory reporting of security events.

The individuals involved are set to appear in Nadi Magistrates Court today, alongside a representative from the aircraft company.
