The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing one count of murder.
It is alleged that on September 9, in Raiwaqa, Suva, Ciliceva killed Sabreen Shahib Ali. During the court session, Ciliceva indicated that he wishes to reserve his right to counsel as he needs time to make international calls to secure funding for a lawyer.
Magistrate Savou granted him this time and clarified that due to the nature of the charge being an indictable offense, the case would be transferred to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody, and the court has provided him with 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is scheduled for another hearing on September 30.
