A 31-year-old man, Anare Vuli Ciliceva, accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday, has had his case moved to the High Court in Suva. Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing one count of murder for the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa.
During the hearing, Ciliceva requested time to arrange funding for legal representation, stating he needed to make calls abroad. Magistrate Savou granted him the request, noting that due to the nature of the charge being an indictable offense, the case would be transferred to the High Court.
Ciliceva will remain in custody, but the court has provided him 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is scheduled to resume on September 30.
