The High Court is set to hear a motion next Thursday concerning a case involving former FijiFirst Member of Parliament, Vijendra Prakash. This session was initially scheduled for today but was postponed when Siddharth Nandan, the counsel for the case, was absent. Suva lawyer Jagath Karunaratne represented him and requested the court to reschedule the hearing for Thursday.
Yovin Naidu represented the Office of the Attorney-General, while Seini Fotofei appeared on behalf of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). The court agreed to the rescheduling and instructed all parties to submit their documents by September 4.
Prakash was found guilty last year of unlawfully receiving $33,670 in parliamentary allowances after an eight-week trial. He faces charges from FICAC for providing false information to a public servant and obtaining a financial advantage. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 2:30 pm.
