The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing a charge of murder.
It is alleged that on September 9, in Raiwaqa, Suva, Ciliceva murdered Sabreen Shahib Ali. During the court session, Ciliceva expressed his intention to reserve his right to legal representation, stating he needed to make international calls to secure funding for a lawyer.
Magistrate Savou granted him additional time and clarified that, due to the seriousness of the charge, the case would transition to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody but has been given 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is set to be reconvened on September 30.
