A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month made his first appearance in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faced a single murder charge before Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu.
It is claimed that Cilicewa murdered Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa. During the hearing, Cilicewa stated that he did not have legal representation yet but had applied for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid informed the court that they require an additional seven days to file complete disclosures. He also mentioned that further police investigations are ongoing, and additional information will be provided in the next court session.
The case has been adjourned until October 16 to confirm Cilicewa’s legal representation and full disclosures. Additionally, Cilicewa’s production order has been extended. Before the adjournment, Zunaid indicated he would be occupied with another case but had arranged for another prosecutor to represent him.
