The High Court in Suva has delayed the sentencing for three former police officers charged with manslaughter to October 17, citing the need for further preparation. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, expecting a verdict. The charges relate to the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, who was taken to the Samabula Police Station after reportedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence. The injuries sustained led to Tikoivalenibula’s death. The three officers remain on bail.
