High Court Delays Sentencing in Controversial Manslaughter Case

Spread the love

The High Court in Suva has delayed the sentencing of three former police officers charged with manslaughter to October 17 due to a lack of preparation. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, anticipating a decision.

The charges arise from the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, who was taken to the Samabula Police Station for reportedly attacking a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence. The injuries inflicted during the incident ultimately led to Tikoivalenibula’s death. The three officers are currently released on bail.
