The High Court in Suva has deferred the sentencing of three former police officers charged with manslaughter to October 17 due to a lack of preparedness. Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, expecting a verdict. The charges result from the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, after he was taken to the Samabula Police Station for allegedly attacking a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence. The injuries sustained led to Tikoivalenibula’s death. The three officers are currently out on bail.
