The High Court in Suva has delayed the sentencing of three former police officers facing manslaughter charges until October 17, due to a lack of preparedness. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, anticipating a decision.
The charges arise from the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, who was taken to the Samabula Police Station after reportedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence of alcohol. The injuries sustained during the incident ultimately led to Tikoivalenibula’s death.
The three officers are currently on bail.
