The 1967 Miss Hibiscus contest was notably successful, as the contest committee expressed satisfaction with the high number of entries. A press release shared by The Fiji Times revealed the names of four of the eight contestants participating this year. The committee had initially expected 18 entrants.
The four contestants announced were Miss Clara Hoong, Miss Linda Hadden, Miss Annette Lepper, and Miss Ann Ah Jack.
Nineteen-year-old Miss Clara Hoong, a stenographer, enjoys reading, dress making, playing indoor basketball, badminton, and watching movies. She is sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres in partnership with Caines Jannif Limited.
Twenty-year-old Miss Linda Hadden works as a secretary/stenographer and is sponsored by Burns Philp (South Sea) Company Limited. Her interests include horse riding, swimming, dancing, and reading.
Miss Annette Lepper, 21, serves as a receptionist/clerk and is sponsored by the Fiji Hotel Association. Her hobbies are swimming, water-skiing, reading, and cooking.
Nineteen-year-old Miss Ann Ah Jack works as a cashier and is sponsored by Morris Hedstrom Limited. She enjoys basketball, dancing, gardening, meeting new people, and collecting records.
The contestants’ full itinerary was organized prior to the festival, which ran from September 7 to October 8, 1967.
