The Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima, has expressed his gratitude to the National Fire Authority (NFA) for their invaluable assistance in the cleanup efforts following the flooding that affected towns on Boxing Day, including Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki.
Mr. Nalusima acknowledged the dedication of NFA firefighters across the country, particularly highlighting their prompt response in supporting local councils. In Ba, he noted that 14 fire officers, including two who volunteered their off-duty time, joined forces with 23 council workers and 4 police officers to aid in the cleanup operation.
Additionally, officers from Nadi traveled to Rakiraki and Tavua to provide further support, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that emerged in response to the challenging situation.
This commendation not only celebrates the commitment of the firefighters during a difficult time but also highlights the community’s resilience and cooperation in overcoming natural disasters.
