Attention, Fiji Group residents! A heavy rain alert is in full swing, so grab your umbrella and possibly a canoe.
Here’s the scoop: A pesky trough of low pressure has decided to throw a cloud and rain party, and we’re all invited until later today, unfortunately! Expect some sporadic rain showers, and when they say “heavy at times,” they really mean it. So, if you plan on staying dry, you might want to rethink that! Throw in a few squally thunderstorms, and it sounds like Mother Nature is having a bit of a tantrum. But don’t worry, the rain should take a chill pill and ease up from the west later today, letting a bit of sunshine awkwardly poke through.
Winds will be moderate from the north to northwest, but watch out for those gusty winds in areas where the rain and thunderstorms throw their weight around. Seas? Well, they’ll be moderate to rough, so it’s probably best to save that surfing lesson for another day.
Looking ahead to Saturday: Expect more of those random rain showery interruptions, particularly in Lau and Lomaiviti, with a few thunderclaps to keep things spicy. But don’t fret; the rain will make a graceful exit to brief showers later in the day. For areas like Kadavu, Sigatoka, and various others, you’ll encounter some cloudy moments with brief showers before the night rolls in, which promises to be cool.
More detailed forecast for the key spots:
**Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Pack your raincoat; occasional heavy rain and a few thunderstorms will be your companions today.
**Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** A classic rainy day movie with heavy rain scenes, followed by a “Fine Weather” epilogue tomorrow night.
**Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Same story as before—occasional rain, but hey, fine weather tomorrow too!
**Tavua/Rakiraki:** A perfect day for umbrellas with the same forecast.
**Yasawa/Mamanuca:** Rain and thunderstorms will be around, but you’re in luck; Saturday should bring open skies.
**Labasa:** Yep, rain is the star today; expect it to take a break in favor of fine weather on Saturday.
**Savusavu:** Similarly, rain will show up for an encore, but Saturday looks bright and promising!
**For Rotuma:** The strong winds have called it quits, but some clouds and a few showers will stick around.
So, gear up, stay dry, and let’s hope for a sunbeam or two tomorrow!
