Life was filled with uncertainty for Susann Rasilulu from the Solomon Islands and her three-year-old son, Isidone Kennedy, prior to his heart surgery at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital. However, during the Gift of Life ceremony held on Thursday, Ms. Rasilulu expressed immense gratitude towards the medical team for performing a life-saving operation on her son.
Reflecting on the ordeal, she stated, “Before the operation, I didn’t know what would happen to my son, but as you can see, I am very happy with where he is now.” She emphasized the importance of such facilities, saying, “I’d like to thank you for creating a place like this, where people like us can access life-saving operations because it’s very expensive.” With newfound hope, she expressed confidence that her son now has a bright future ahead.
Adi Kelera Qereqeretabua shared her appreciation on behalf of the other parents, highlighting her own daughter, Claire Joyce, who underwent heart surgery at the facility at the age of ten. “Most of us come from diverse backgrounds and have experienced love and care during our stay at this facility. We are deeply grateful for your support and services,” she remarked. She further noted, “I’m sure most of these parents will agree that before our children were admitted here, we struggled to find the best medical care, but after the surgery, you can see tears of joy and endless smiles.”
Dr. Roman Gebauer, a pediatric cardiac surgeon from Prague, Czech Republic, mentioned that the initiative for the hospital started from the ground up, inducing obvious positive change and hope for families in need of specialized medical care.
This heartwarming event showcases the profound impact of medical facilities dedicated to humanitarian causes, bringing relief and hope to families facing significant challenges. Such initiatives foster a sense of community and exemplify the power of compassion in healthcare. It serves as a reminder that even in difficult times, dedicated medical professionals and supportive communities can create life-changing outcomes.
