Residents of Dawasamu, Namena, and Sawakasa are joyfully marking the opening of the Dogo Health Center in Nananu, Tailevu, which coincides with the festive celebration of Diwali.
The newly built health center, which has a value of $472,895, is set to cater to the healthcare needs of over 8,000 individuals, conveniently located along the route to Natovi Jetty.
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka underscored the significance of the New Zealand Government’s pledge to refurbish primary healthcare facilities throughout Fiji, with an anticipated investment of more than FJ$ 4 million. This investment aims to improve the quality of health services and modernize existing healthcare infrastructure.
Upcoming enhancements include the conversion of Galoa Nursing Station into a fully-fledged Health Centre, upgrades to the Makoi Health Centre, and various other facility improvements. Additionally, the Prime Minister announced that refurbishment work has commenced at Momi Nursing Station, which includes the construction of new quarters for nurses.
The construction of the Dogo Health Center was made possible through funding from the New Zealand government. Charlotte Darlow, New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji, reiterated the commitment to advancing health infrastructure for all Fijians.
This investment in healthcare not only aims to improve access to medical services but also symbolizes a strong partnership between Fiji and New Zealand, providing hope for better health outcomes in the region.
