The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has emphasized that the safety and welfare of healthcare workers stationed at nursing stations and health centers nationwide is a top priority. In a recent statement, the Ministry condemned any actions by individuals or communities that disrespect healthcare personnel, who dedicate themselves to serving in these challenging environments.

There has been a delay in appointing a replacement nurse for the Naililili Nursing Station in Rewa, following a series of robberies at the nursing station quarters last December. Currently, the nurse assigned to Naililili is based at Wainibokasi Hospital and visits the station monthly to conduct Maternal Child Health Clinics and Special Outpatients Clinics. Additionally, a laborer is scheduled to clean the nursing station once a month.

To enhance the safety of its staff, the Ministry plans to install fencing and carry out minor renovations at the Naililili station. It is also urging the local community to take responsibility for safeguarding healthcare workers in their areas.
