Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has addressed concerns regarding recent policy changes affecting overtime and Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) for civil servants, particularly within the Ministry of Health. He assured that the ministry’s budget is sufficiently robust to cover the necessary resources, including overtime, devoid of any fund shortages.
Professor Prasad emphasized that any operational challenges arising from these policy adjustments should be resolved between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Civil Service. He stated that there is no expectation of service disruptions due to financial constraints, affirming that adequate funding is available to maintain healthcare services and equip hospitals properly.
In response to reports of staff shortages in radiology and pharmacy, Professor Prasad reiterated that the issue is not related to funding but rather to the processes and procedures of the involved ministries. He encouraged both ministries to collaborate and address any procedural hurdles to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery.
This situation highlights the importance of effective communication and cooperation among government departments to maintain essential public services. As the dialogue continues, there is hope for an efficient resolution that ensures healthcare professionals can execute their roles without hindrance, ultimately benefiting the community they serve.
