Tiliva Nakasaleka Village headman Jale Duikoro has clarified rumors regarding funds or donations from the Chinese embassy.
Widespread social media allegations claim that Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya received $172,000 from the Chinese ambassador for a village development project. Mr. Duikoro clarified last week that these funds are not linked to Ms. Tabuya.
“The $172,000 is intended for village development purposes, specifically for projects like path construction and restroom improvements,” Mr. Duikoro stated.
“We are aware of speculations suggesting it was a private donation. These funds were managed directly between the Chinese government and the Tiliva Development Committee; they were not received privately by her.”
Ms. Tabuya said yesterday, “The village development committee had liaised directly with them, and I was not involved in any way. The process was transparent and straightforward.
“I am not a member of nor involved with the development committee.”
