Harish Sharma’s Inspiring Journey from Struggle to Parliament

The book “The Road to Parliament,” documenting the personal and political experiences of former National Federation Party leader Harish Sharma, was launched yesterday at Jai Narayan College.

Harish Sharma previously held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Information following the 1987 General Elections.

Current NFP leader and Coalition Government Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad praised Mr. Sharma, calling him “an embodiment of wisdom, authority, goodwill, and a shining example of what one can achieve in life through political morality, transparency, and accountability.”

Professor Prasad remarked, “To reach almost 90 years of age and begin writing memoirs is nothing short of a miracle. It is indeed remarkable to possess such a strong memory to accurately recall events and activities, along with the ability to conduct thorough research.”

He added, “The Road to Parliament – A glimpse into the life of Hon Harish C Sharma – is a testament to such an individual. He is a man of humility, kindness, decency, absolute integrity, and honesty.”

Reflecting on his own humble beginnings, Professor Prasad noted the challenges Mr. Sharma faced early in life, including the loss of his biological mother at just one year old, a tragedy that could have shattered many children.

He highlighted Mr. Sharma’s resilience as he dealt with difficulties during his schooling, where he was treated poorly by a family he worked for, living in substandard conditions while performing various chores.

Professor Prasad emphasized, “The true worth of a person is measured by how they respond when faced with adversity. Mr. Sharma met these challenges head-on and emerged victorious, exemplifying the essence of his character.”

He concluded by stating, “The Road to Parliament is the glittering jewel in the crown of Mr. Harish Sharma.”
