Former Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the National Federation Party (NFP), Harish Sharma, remains a prominent figure in Fiji’s diverse political landscape. At the age of 92, Mr. Sharma unveiled his memoir titled “Road to Parliament: A Glimpse into the Life of Hon. Harish C. Sharma” in Suva on Thursday.
During the launch, Finance Minister and current NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad praised Mr. Sharma for having collaborated with notable leaders such as A.D. Patel, S.M. Koya, and Justice Jai Ram Reddy throughout his career. “Reaching nearly 90 years of age and embarking on writing memoirs is nothing short of a miracle,” Professor Prasad stated.
He described the memoir as a testament to Mr. Sharma’s character, calling him a man of humility, kindness, integrity, and honesty. In addressing the audience, Mr. Sharma encouraged the younger generation to set goals for themselves and strive to achieve them. He also shared excerpts from his memoir that highlighted the various challenges he has encountered in life. Several NFP stalwarts were present at the launch, underscoring the event’s significance.
