Spread the love

Recent incidents of mpaisa theft have emerged, with two new cases reported in Labasa.

Authorities stated that in the first instance, a 35-year-old woman residing in Namara, Labasa, is accused of incorrectly withdrawing $320 that was mistakenly sent to her in March by a member of the public. The investigation revealed that the victim had intended to send the money to a family friend who had requested financial assistance. After confirming with the friend that the request was untrue, the victim promptly reported the incident to the authorities.

In another matter, a 20-year-old man from Nabekavu has been charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage, following allegations of dishonestly acquiring $200. Reports indicate that the victim sent this amount in response to a Facebook advertisement for a phone for sale. It is alleged that the accused withdrew the funds and then severed communication with the victim.

Both individuals involved are scheduled to appear in the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
