A ‘Stop Work Order’ remains in place for the Great Han Residential Development located on Princess Road. The Department of Environment has brought this matter to attention. They were informed on September 5, 2024, about the lifting of the ‘Order’ by the Suva City Council.
In response to this information, the Department of Environment initiated investigations and met with involved parties to assess whether the lifting of the stop work order was aligned with the Department’s stance. It was determined that Great Han had not adhered to the Suva City Council’s decision, which stipulated that the project could only advance if it complied with the Department of Environment’s requirements outlined in their prior decline decision.
Additionally, the Department conducted due processes and issued a stop work order on September 24, in accordance with Section 43 of the Environment Management Act 2005.
